Makeup Monday 10/28: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Review.

Makeup Monday Title

Can I just say, it’s not often that something will grab my attention and make me fall in love immediately and forever? But every so often, something will sneak into my life, and it’s magic. Like, I feel like I have that ever-so-famous glow. Now, I’m not talking about some new hottie in my life (lolz), but instead, Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light.

I’m one who likes a nice glow to my skin, but I don’t want to look all around “sparkly”. I like to place my highlight where I want it, and I like to be able to control the amount I radiate from within…or something like that. This is a finely milled powder that gives enough glow to highlight, but not to the point of looking like a disco ball. It gives a warm champagne highlight; the color is a bit warmer than Urban Decay’s eyeshadow in Sin, but closely related (I like my eyeshadow to tie in with the highlight color, so that is one that I often pair together).

The price is a bit steep, at $45, however you are getting 0.35oz which lasts for a long while. I’ve been using mine everyday for the last few months and I’ve barely made a dent. It is finely milled so that does leave a bit of fall out on the packaging, which in the long run may lead to losing more product, but I haven’t seen any issues other than the messiness of the compact.

The other great thing is the versatility of this product. It’s marketed as an all over powder, however I think it’s a bit too shimmery for my skin tone. But I use it as a highlighting product (cheekbones, Cupid’s bow, bridge of nose, middle of forehead, etc) and also a great wash for eyeshadow. Products that have multi-uses are always a favorite in my mind.

Overall, I love this product. I definitely think it’s worth the splurge, if you are one who is a highlight fanatic, like me. I become very attached to my highlighting products and will use one obsessively, until I find a different one to satisfy my craving. This one is currently that love of mine.

So, now my question for you. What’s your favorite highlighting product, or do you even use one? Let me know in a comment. Love y’all so much!

  1. Love the sound of this. I’ve always wanted to use one, maybe I’ll see if I can find this. Do you think it’s at Ulta?!

  2. Hey Kacie my dear. I am old enuf to b your parent, and I ask you your personal opinion; will my mature skin look like a roadmap after use of this product? At my age, powder is usually not my friend. Moisture is. What’s your read? I pray for your success, happiness and fulfillment in your new endeavors. Love to read your updates!?
